Ed's Coffeehouse doubles as the town's front room. The River Cafe does breakfast over the water, Island Pastry Haus pairs coffee with a pastry case, and Lil's does proper afternoon tea among the antiques.

Mountain Man does hard scoop right through summer, Cowabunga Cones blends soft serve with real fruit beside a row of arcade machines, and Island Pastry Haus handles anything involving butter and sugar.

Burgers at The Cow Cafe and JV's Diner, which keeps forty-nine milkshake flavours on hand. Jakes at the Lake sits above the tubing hang-out, the Riverside pub runs long, and Youbou Bar & Grill has the better view.

Lakeside Sushi names its rolls after places round the lake - be sure to ask for the Honeymoon Bay. Poblanos does Mexican a minute from the river, and Garden Made pours bubble tea in a plant shop.
